There are three separate races.

Where: All three races start at Kurrawa Park, Broadbeach and head south to the turnaround point, then back.

When: Saturday 7 June 2008. The 10 km starts at 1700, the 5km walk at 1705 and the 5 km run at 1715. 

Aid stations: Aid stations will be provided each 2.5 km.

Trophies will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female in each of the three events. Prizegiving will be as soon as practicable after completion of the events.

Cost: The entry fee for each race is $25 which includes a complimentary tee shirt.

 

100 km, 50 km & 25 km runs - Sunday 8 JUNE 2008

The events consist of 100 km, 50 km and 25km. The 100 km incorporates the National 100 km road Championships of Athletics Australia and the Australian Ultra Runners Association (AURA).

Trophies will be awarded to the first three males and first three females in each of the three events.

There will be no relay events.

Where: Kurrawa Park Broadbeach, Gold Coast, Qld.

When: Sunday 8 June 2008. This is the Queen's birthday weekend. The 100km event starts at 0600, the 50km at 0615 and the 25km at 0630. In subsequent years, the Sunday of the Queen's birthday weekend will fall as follows: 7 June 2009, 10 June 2010.

Race packs: Available at the start from 0500 on raceday.

Time limit: There will be a 14 hour cutoff for the 100km event. Time limits do not apply to the 25 and 50km events..

Course: The course is out 12.5 km and back 12.5 km, for the 25 km. Do it twice for 50 km and four times for 100 km. It is along the beachfront and is flat and scenic. For more details, see course map

Aid stations: There will be aid stations at each 2.5km. The stations will carry water, Endura, coka, glucose type sweets and bananas. Toilets are available every km or so, normally near the numerous surf lifesaving clubs along the beach. Runners will be permitted to have seconders or crew. Athletes with their own special drinks, food etc can arrange to have their supplies dropped at any aid station they nominate. The drop boxes will be located near the racepack pickup area at the race start.

Course measurement: The course has been measured by a certified AIMS measurer in accordance with the requirements of the AIMS and the Australian Ultra Runners Association (AURA). The event is sanctioned by AURA, Athletics Australia and the IAU.

Race results: Will be posted to the website as soon as practicable after the event.

IAU 100 km World Cup: The 100 km solo event is available as a qualifying event for the World 100 km challenge to be held in 2008. Male runners achieving less than 8 hours and female runners achieving less than 9hrs 30 min will be preferred for selection. For details of the IAU travel grants scheme, see Travel Grants.

Commemorative shirts: Ccompetitors in the 100 km event who finish within the 14 hour cutoff will be awarded a special commemorative polo shirt. Competitors who complete the 25 km and 50 km events will be awarded commemorative tee shirts.

Awards: An awards ceremony will be held over breakfast at the Kurrawa Surf Lifesaving Club at 0800 on Monday 9 June for the 100km event. This is the Queens' birthday holiday. The entry fee does not include this breakfast. Breakfast may be purchased direct at the venue. Prizegiving itself will commence at 0845. Prizegiving for the 25 km and 50 km events will be held as soon as practicable after the conclusion of each event.

Cost: $90 for 100km, $60 for 50km and $30 for 25km. Discounts apply for AURA members. The entry fee includes a polo shirt for the 100km contestants and tee shirts for the 50km and 25km competitors.

Showers & toilets: Showers are available at the beachfront near the race finish.

Accommodation is readily available in the Broadbeach area.

Travel: If travelling from overseas or interstate, you may fly into either the Brisbane or the Gold Coast airport. Shuttles run regularly from both airports to Broadbeach. The cost is approximately $17 from Gold Coast and $35 from Brisbane. Travelling time from Brisbane is approx one hour 15 minutes and from Gold Coast approximately 30 minutes. Operators are Coachtrans from Brisbane and Gold Coast Con-x-ion from both Gold Coast and Brisbane.

Parking: Parking is readily available in the street adjacent to the start or in the carpark adjacent to the Kurrawa Surf Lifesaving Club. For those who know the Kurrawa to Duranbah 50 km course, conducted in December, this is the exact same course, except that the turnaround is at the 12.5km mark at the corner of Jefferson Lane and 3rd Avenue, Miami.
